About Worth The Trip

We used to be good at travel.
Then we had kids.

Worth The Trip is a family travel resource built by parents who are still figuring it out — and sharing everything they learn along the way.

How it started

We used to be good at travel.

Before kids, our travel résumé looked a little different — backpacking through Morocco, living abroad in the Czech Republic and Colombia, romantic getaways in eco-bungalows in Mexico. We weren’t afraid of a long haul or an off-the-beaten-path itinerary.

Then we had a son.

The first trip we took as a family of three was the one that started all of this. We came home more exhausted and frazzled than when we left — which, if you’ve been there, feels like a specific kind of defeat. All that travel experience, and somehow we hadn’t figured out how to just enjoy a trip anymore.

Worth The Trip grew out of that experience, and everything we’ve learned since. We’re still searching for the ideal family vacation — one that has real quality time together, a trustworthy night out without the kid, and most importantly, coming home actually rested. That balance is harder to find than anyone admits, and the advice online doesn’t always help.

This site is our attempt to figure it out — and share what we find along the way.

How recommendations work

The standard.

Every recommendation on Worth The Trip — whether it’s a resort, a packing cube, or a booking strategy — goes through the same filter: would we genuinely suggest this to a friend planning a trip?

Content here draws on a mix of personal travel experience, thorough research, and real-world input from families who’ve been there. The goal is the same regardless of the source: would this genuinely help a family plan a better trip? If it wouldn’t, it doesn’t make the cut.

A note on affiliate links: Some posts on this site contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of those links, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This is one of the ways Worth The Trip stays independent. It never influences what we recommend. We only link to things we’d stand behind regardless.
